Q: I have a very basic home studio that i record in and play an electronic drum kit very often, I would be using these for both recording/mixing and playing the e-kit. Any objections to that or should I be pretty happy with these?

A: Truthfully I can't imagine anyone not loving these headphones. They offer supreme comfort and they just do so many things right. I'm 55 years old and so my hearing might not be as great as it was as a young Buckeroo but these sound glorious to my ears. There is a well defined tight bass punch that isn't lacking by any means, a smooth detailed mid-range and a crisp high end that I find very non fatiguing. I've only had mine a few days but have put about 25 hours on them to this point and I believe they sound better today than right out of the box so if you choose these please give them some time. They will sound good out of the box but will get better. As for the drums, I'd venture to say that these will suit your needs just fine, especially if you have something powering them other than a cell phone. They aren't noise canceling headphones but they do an OK job of keeping outside noise at bay while not bothering others.

Q: For the last 6 years I have been using Bose QC 15 noise cancelling headphones. While I know the audio quality will be far superior here how do they perform in noisy environments, as in how much of the surrounding noise come through when listening?

A: I usually am in a pretty noisy room when I'm at my computer, TV sounds and the like. But with the leather plush earpads they make a pretty good seal I can rarely hear any noise outside my headphones. They may not have active noise cancellation but they keep all the sound you want in and any external sounds out

Q: Can these headphones be used while running?

A: I would not use these while running personally bcause of the price, but they could be used, yes. A cheaper headset would be preferred in case of damage.

Q: Late night tv watcher needs to also hear it. Help me.

A: Hi OldEars, if you are referring to your TV being able to output sound from these headphones and its own speakers, it is possible. You may want to check if your TV is capable of doing so by going to its audio settings, then headphone settings if it has it. Regards, -Mark

Q: where is manufacture made ?

A: It is made in Japan.

Q: where is the volume control on sony mdr-1a premium hi res headphones?

A: The volume control is on the device you plug them in to. These are not powered and do not have an in line volume button like the iphone headphones.

Q: Is this headphone will work even if the music player device isn't a Hi-Res capable?

A: Yes they will work. Not much is hi res but sounds great with any device I use them with.
