Great tv except one consistent problem

I bought this tv on black Friday. I was very pleased with it out of the box. However, as we hooked it up to our direct tv there were consistent horizontal lines on certain sections of the panel that blurred out or lagged on the tv. This did not happen on our gaming system or blu ray player. Worked with the cable company and they checked all of their equipment with no solution. Worked with a very helpful Vizio customer service to get it exchanged. New tv had the exact same problems immediately out of the box. After working with direct tv again it was discovered that it is likely due to the refresh rate or a software issue. I was able to resolve the problem by switching the picture setting on the tv to game. This change must've adjusted refresh rate or fixed whatever bug was occurring. Otherwise they may have used cheap parts which are showing. Long story short, tv works great now, but only on game picture mode.

OK Low End HDTV - Then Problems

Started out with a decent low end HDTV - sound ok, picture good but not outstanding, very poor viewing angle though.
THEN one week in, started getting horizontal streaks and combing for action scenes and transitions. Not a problem with my older TV. Switched cables, ports, DIRECTV boxes, TVs, clearly a TV issue.
Contacted VIZIO, while polite they were no help and blamed the signal (1080i DIRECTV).
Only thing they could suggest was the catchall 'unplug, wait 30 sec with power pressed, turn on'. Of course, no change.
Cheap TV but returned.
My conclusion, this TV (specific or firmware) has interlacing issues. As a newer, lower end model made in China (not even Mexico) I believe VIZIO has some problems. BBY sales person says they are seeing a number of customer issues.

Poor Refresh Rate

Unsure if this was the TV or the 60hz refresh rate but experienced lagging on screen when there was a lot of movement happening.
Will be returning for a different TV soon.
Great size and picture otherwise.

After having a 32 inch TV for years it was time for an upgrade. This TV is OK. Sometimes it has a line in middle of screen but doesn't last long. Color is great, size is great and for the price it works. We already had a sound bar and smart DVD player so a bigger basic TV was what we wanted

Good Basic HDTV at Value Price Point

This HDTV is a newly released part of VIZIO D series for 2016, and a basic model. No 4K, which most reviewers say isn't really needed for 48", or 'smart TV'.
I find HDTVs with Smart features are either too complex (Chromecast) or have issues (SS SmartHub) while locking you into what's installed. Rather have a smart device (stick, DVD player).
Getting the TV, easy to set up, sound is good from 2 x 10W downfire speakers, VIZIO always has tons of connections. Wish for one more HDMI but....
Haven't had any distracting motion blur or jutter, but then website RTNGS.COM says SAMSUNG J series at much more $ is even worse.
All in all a great black friday flash sale value.

Damaged tv which was glitching from day 1

Bought this open box 48 in vizio tv was assured by bestbuy employees that it was in excellent condition as soon as i brought it home realized that 2 out of 4screws needed to attach the stand were missing and on top of that the visual display was glitching as soon as i connected the tv so i brought it back i will never listen to a bestbuy employee again

Great Buy, Great TV

Got this on a Black Friday special for a great price and very happy with it. I did not want a Smart TV, so this is perfect. Turns on right away and does not make you jump through all the Smart TV hoops. Easy hook up, picture is great, sound is good. The only thing that threw me off was there isn't a center base but rather feet on each end. Not a big deal unless you are planning on trying to put it on a stand that is 38" wide (or less.) Remote looks like a cell phone but functional.

It was my first time buying a vizio tv, I usually sick close to Samsung products. After playing around with the picture settings, I've found levels that support the best picture. I'm starting to believe any LED tv will suffice with the correct settings.

I received this broken.
The shipping box was intact, but when I opened that, the inner box had already been opened. I feel I received a used television instead of a new one. I work 7 days a week, and I will have to take time off of work to drive it 40 miles to a best buy store to return it. Not good.
