A: It depends on how many files, and what size you need to save - and what size storage product you choose. No matter what you choose - be very sure to make at least 2 separate copies of important files such as these, using 2 pieces of storage media. I have had SD cards, external disk drives, and USB flash drives all go bad! I wouldn't trust any one of them to be my only safe copy.
A: You do not have to load the pictures onto your computer, but you will need to use a computer as a "middle man" or connector to load the pictures onto the flash drive. Just plug your phone into the computer with your USB cord, and plug the USB in the computer as well.
Q: What does this mean? USB 3.0 interface, for a fast connection backward compatible with 2.0?
A: This means it will work in a USB 2.0 port... but remember it can only go as fast as the lowest port speed. So if you put a 3.0 USB (also known as SuperSpeed USB) which has a maximum bandwidth rate of 5 gbps (gigabits per second). That translates to 640 MBps (megabytes per second)—ten times faster than USB 2.0 (aka Hi-Speed USB) in a 2.0 port that has the capability of a 480 megabits per second (mbps), or 60 megabytes per second (MBps) that is as fast as it will go.
Q: Is this a Western Digital or Sandisk?
A: The flash drives I received had the Western Digital logo. I too was confused as to which brand I was actually buying, but an Internet search revealed that in 2016, Western Digital purchased SanDisk, so now, the flash drives are the same regardless of the name on the package. Hope this helps.
A: Is there a check mark next to each filename? Perhaps you only uploaded shortcuts, not the actual files.
Q: Will this store and play music files?
A: it will store music and many devices will play the files off a simple thumb drive but its not specifically and mp3 player, doesn't have a headphone output or anything like that
Q: NEED STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO STORE MY PICTURES FROM MY COMPUTER TO THIS FLASH DRIVE
A: If you have Windows 10, you can go to File Explorer then go to Pictures which are under This Pc. Your WD storage drive should be connected in one of your USB slots and the folder should be pop up with space to put your pictures in. In Pictures, you can select all or drag and drop or simply send to truly get the picture off your computer to put what you want in the WD storage folder.
Q: Will this item work to download pictures off of my iPhone 8plus?
A: Please ignore the user that mentioned a micro-SD slot. This Best Buy listing is for a Western Digital flash drive. Also, iPhones do not have micro-SD slots. A USB flash drive, like this WD model, cannot plug directly into the Lightning port of an Apple device. You would have to transfer the pictures from your iPhone 8+ to your computer first, then back them up onto this flash drive from your computer. If you are looking for the convenience of something that can plug directly into your iPhone, look for the SanDisk iExpand. Best Buy does sell them. They come in a few different memory sizes. They have a lightning plug on one end and a USB on the other. You can plug it directly into your iPhone and use their app to back up the photos to it.
