About me: - 30 yrs old - Advanced Microsoft Windows OS user from 98 to Windows 8.1. - Game & Simulation programmer [ PROS ] - Affordable price - Stable OS platform - Buy Best Buy products & earn Reward Zone points. - Doesn't differ greatly from MS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. - Product has limited 1 yr warranty - Users can purchase another activation license from Microsoft.com if they use this disc to install MS Win 7 Home Premium 64bit on their pc. - Activation license has unlimited product support until Win 7 gets phased out like Win XP. - User is allowed to downgrade files from 64bit to 32bit on the fly, as needed. VERY USEFUL feature when preparing files on a broken Win 7 32bit OS and only having access to a Win 7 64bit Home Premium OS. [ CONS ] - Activation license is only good for 1 PC activation. - Once activation code is activated you can only use the disc for system reinstallations. - MS Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit differs from MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit as 64bit allows for & sometimes requires administrator settings to be set either start installation, reinstallation, once a program is installed or ran for the first time whereas Win 7 Home Premium 32bit handles most of those task for the user. - Installation disc does not come with/offer user the MSDN library.

For quite a while I'd been considering upgrading my older Windows Vista Desktop to Windows 7 but kept putting it off out of fear of really screwing things up. I finally ordered the upgrade disc from BestBuy.com and when the disc arrived I "bit the bullet" and did the install. While the update did take about 2 1/2 hours I must say everything went smoothly. I had previously run the windows 7 compatibility test and uninstalled a couple of things that were listed as perhaps not being compatible with Windows 7. I reinstalled updated versions of these programs after the Windows 7 install. The worst part of the whole experience was not doing the upgrade but rather the nearly 200 Windows updates needed to bring Windows 7 up to date. After the Windows 7 install it's almost like having a new computer. Everything is faster and Internet Explorer 11 is much better than Internet Explorer 9 which was the latest version available for Windows Vista. I might add that I don't know a lot about computers, but if I can do this I think anyone can!

We bought this to update an XP computer so our children could use it for school work. Now we don't have to worry about the issues involved with lack of XP support. We did have a tech guru install the software, and he also had to reinstall Office. Total cost between software and tech support much less than replacing a four year old laptop in excellent condition. Guru says we should get another five years of life, just in time for Windows 7 support to be discontinued. We purchased two copies of Windows 7 Home Premium. Have not installed second copy yet, as we need to uninstall old software from computer so we are able to reinstall when upgraded. That is biggest issue I have. It is time consuming to backup all files, uninstall software, then reinstall software after Windows 7 is loaded.
