Q: what is pass-thru feature? what does it do for you?
A: the pass through feature passes the video signal of what you have plugged into the receivers HDMI inputs, (Blu-ray, PS4, etc. ) along to what you have plugged into your HDMI output (HDTV).
Q: Can you hook up a powered subwoofer to it?
A: Yes but you will need to connect the subwoofer power directly to an outlet. There is no switched outlet on the receiver. This hasn't presented an issue with my powered subwoofer, just wanted to call it out.
Q: Can I use 8 ohms speakers with this?
A: Yes. Settings allow adjustment for either 6 or 8 Ohms.
Q: Will I be able to hook up a Center speaker?
A: There are connections for center and rear speakers, as well as a sub.
A: Yes, each channel is 140 watts.
A: I'll answer my own question. It cannot allow for standby pass through. I ended up returning the unit and upgrading to Yamaha's RX-V481 model, which has a feature called Standby Through. With that, I can watch TV with the unit off as long as I leave it on the appropriate input. Thanks for the answers!
Q: Is this receiver Bluetooth compatible with iPhone 5s
A: It should work with any Bluetooth device. Just pair and go. It was a little tricky to pair with my iPhone. I had to look up online first and discovered that I needed to press and hold the button on the receiver while pairing.
Q: How can I hook up my yamaha 700w 5.1 to my 2.1 sub woofer and speakers
A: You can manually program - and the unit can also auto-sense - 2.1 or 3.1 setups.
