3 months ago as of writing this review, I wanted to start honing in on doing photography. I had a small budget and didn't want to overexpense myself. In the end, I decided to try out this camera and the 18-45mm lens that came with the bundle. All this time later, it has become a very valuable camera for what I do and I will continue to use it for a long time. Below I will give my two cents on reasons why and why not to purchase it. Warning, lots of reading! Lightweight: Since the R100 is a Mirrorless camera, it is a much lighter weight than most DSLRs. Why is this good? You still capture great quality photos and have a lighter bag with you! Yes, some will argue that mirrorless will take less quality shots than DSLR but in reality, since the mirrorless has no internal moving mechanisms, such as a mirror, not only will your shots be quieter, but there is no chance of camera shake by the device itself, only your hands. ;) Still, there are reasons for DSLRs, such as battery life. In the end, if you like to be on the move with your camera, I recommend this type. Crop-Sensor: The R100 is an APS-C style camera, which means that the image will be zoomed in because of the camera's sensor. Isn't that bad? Well, not exactly. For closer subjects, maybe, unless you physically move away. However, for farther away subjects, like animals, you will fall in love with the 1.6x crop factor. Lenses on this camera will effectively be zoomed drastically the longer the focal length. This means your 18-45mm lens is the equivalent of a 24-80mm on a full-frame camera, which is the standard measurement for camera sensors. The 55-210mm turns into an 88-336mm equivalent. And that 100-400? 160 to a drastic 640mm! That's enough to take photos of the moon! Unfortunately, I have not used any of the video features or flash on this camera. I don't have any interest in using them myself. I cannot comment on what I don't know about. :( The specs on this camera are very useful for the average photographer, especially beginners. The menus and buttons are fairly easy to navigate, and only get more and more simple as you use them more. The autofocus modes are accurate for what I want them to do. Would be nice to have less than 100 ISO in some cases, but remember, this is, essentially, an entry-level camera! So, in the end, it all depends on what you want to photograph, my words will hopefully help you decide on this camera. I will include a few images that I have captured on this camera with the 18-45mm lens. (Alert! I like monochrome, but I will include a colored image.) Been using this for a few months, mainly for cinematography, car content and rolling shots, and it’s been great for the price. 4K video quality holds up way better than I expected for an entry level camera, autofocus is solid, and it’s light enough to shoot with all day. Battery life is decent but bring a backup for longer shoots, and low light isn’t its strongest suit. Kit lens is fine to start but you’ll want to upgrade eventually. Overall a really solid entry point if you’re getting into video without dropping a ton of cash, and Canon’s color still holds up at this price.

Amazing beginner camera, this is the camera I started photography on and I have no complaints. If you’re looking for a compact, lightweight camera that provides professional quality pictures this is for you! If you’re looking for a more “professional looking” camera you may want to look at others. Super easy to use and learn how to work all the features. The kit lens is not the best but it’s definitely not the worst.

One of the best cameras to pick for a start up fits almost all the best lenses canon has.. have purchased supporting lenses and it works perfect.. the body weight is real light so that u can handle it without any hassle.. excellent choice I made of purchasing this camera

This camera is absolutely amazing! I was searching for a beginner camera that was easy to navigate while still producing the high quality that I was looking for. I've had this camera for about a month now and have taken so many beautiful photos of nature, friends, and family and have absolutely loved every photo.

Amazing product i originally started off with a Canon Powershot as my beginner camera for about 4 years, but overtime i decided it was time to upgrade to a new camera. This is a great camera for beginner to intermediate level photographers. The settings are straightforward and easy to use. I also love the Bluetooth settings that it has, allowing me to connect the camera directly to my iPhone making my editing process a lot faster.

Excellent camera for novice photographers - intuitive, great picture quality, light, feature rich. Camera takes great pictures and video. Only negative feedback involves the strap for the camera which isn't great. Seamless switching from screen to view finder is very cool.

It has been easy to navigate and a great way to capture amazing moments! It has reach my expectations. I cannot wait to add more lens and camera accessories to my canon collection. :)

I’ve been using the Canon EOS R100, and honestly, it’s one of those cameras that just feels easy right away. If you’re coming from a phone or you’re new to cameras, this is a really comfortable place to start. The biggest thing I noticed is how user-friendly it is. You don’t have to dig through a million confusing settings to get a good photo. You can pretty much turn it on, point, shoot—and it actually looks good. The autofocus does a great job locking onto faces (especially helpful with kids), so you’re not constantly stressing about whether your shot is in focus. It’s also super lightweight, which makes a big difference if you’re carrying it around for a while or using it for casual shoots. It doesn’t feel intimidating or overly “technical,” which I think is perfect if you’re still learning. Photo quality is where it really stands out compared to a phone. You get that soft, blurry background and more detail without having to try too hard. It just gives your photos that clean, professional look with minimal effort. That said, you can tell it’s a more basic camera. The screen doesn’t flip or have touch, which can feel a little outdated, and video isn’t its strong point. But if your main goal is taking nice photos without overcomplicating things, it honestly does the job really well.

Took adavantage of the sale price on this camera. Brought this camera and the 45mm lens on a trip to Europe. Snapped more than 4000+ pictures. Im very new to photography, and this camera is extremely user friendly. I was very satisfied with the quality of pictures in low light environments. Even with the 45mm lens, long range shots hold great quality. Added an image taken during sunset facing the sun. Very low light but the camera captures a great image even while treading water on a boat.
