WWE 2K18 for Switch is a disappointing port of a game that had potential to be a great wrestling experience on a Nintendo console. The game suffers from severe performance issues, graphical downgrades, and numerous bugs that ruin the enjoyment of the gameplay. The game boasts a huge roster of wrestlers, both current and classic, and a variety of modes to play, such as MyCareer, Universe, and Road to Glory. However, these modes are either bland, repetitive, or frustrating to play, especially on the Switch. The MyCareer mode is a tedious grind that forces you to sit through long loading screens and boring cutscenes, while the Universe mode is a sandbox that lacks any meaningful progression or customization. The Road to Glory mode is an online mode that pits you against other players, but the online functionality is so poor that it's hard to find a match or have a smooth connection. The gameplay itself is decent, with some improvements to the controls, animations, and physics. The matches can be fun and realistic, with a variety of moves, weapons, and match types to choose from. However, the gameplay is severely hampered by the technical issues that plague the Switch version. The frame rate drops drastically whenever there are more than two wrestlers on the screen, making the action slow and choppy. The entrances are also affected, with the wrestlers moving in slow motion while their music plays normally. The audio is also glitchy, with crackling noises and abrupt commentary. The game is also full of bugs, such as wrestlers getting stuck in the environment, clipping through objects, or behaving erratically. The graphics are also a major downgrade from the other versions, with low-resolution textures, jagged edges, and missing effects. The character models are inconsistent, with some looking decent and others looking like they belong to a previous generation. The crowd is also lifeless, with low-poly models and repetitive animations. The game looks acceptable in handheld mode, but it looks terrible on the big screen. WWE 2K18 for Switch is a game that should have been delayed or cancelled, as it is clearly not ready for release. It is a shame, because the game could have been a great addition to the Switch library, offering a portable wrestling experience with a lot of content and features. However, the game is a mess, with poor performance, graphics, and stability. It is hard to recommend this game to anyone, even the most hardcore wrestling fans. WWE 2K18 for Switch is a botched debut that deserves to be booed out of the arena.
