Peace of mind is good. And it helps in a pinch!
At the time i bought this, i was in university and NEEDED a good laptop and couldnt afford to replace one if it failed, was damaged, or whatever.
Surprisingly enough, i ended up needing my warranty on my previous laptop. I somehow damaged the hinge through daily use in my courses. I took it to geek squad and they evaluated that, yes, my laptop was damaged and offered to repair it for free because i purchased the warranty.
It did take over 2 weeks for the repairs to even give me an update, though.
On the up side, that was because my device was "unrepairable" because the service center could not obtain the necessary parts from the manufacturer (HP in one instance, Lenovo in another). When i informed geek squad of this, they immediately refunded my original purchase amount (and the pro-rated amount for my warranty, bonus!) to a gift card labeled "store credit". I then proceeded to purchase a new laptop from their available stock with a new 2-year warranty.
All-in-all, it went pretty well considering i had to deal with a broken laptop and then no laptop for some time. Geek squad did everything they were allowed to do in order to make my life easier because i had purchased the warranty.
ALSO! PRO TIP! If you purchased your device recently and are still in the return period and want to purchase or change the Geek Squad Protection Plan, store employees at the checkout can do a "return exchange" and do that for you. Just make sure you have the device, box, accessories, and receipt with you in case they need it as proof. You wont have to give up your device - they only want to see it to ensure it wasnt broken.
If you like big screen laptops for work or to watch a video. this is the one. i love, love using this laptop. even playing some games in my free time. even nicer that i can use clipstudiopaint on here without lag or kicked out. i had been recommended by a friend over this laptop. want to study? this works. want to play? works with this too!
This laptop is very efficient, quick , doesn't stall. I use this daily for paying bills, writing docs, etc. The battery last several days with one full charge. Is also compatible with my samsung phone, mouse that was bought separately, beat headphones . This computer does it all. A great purchase!
