77mm UV Lens Filter

This filter serves as a protection against scratches, dust and water. Also used as a UV filter with the sun behind your back. It doesn't work shooting toward the sun and it will give a glare or ghost like image in the photo... So I take it off the lens. Some people swear by these filters, and some don't even want them on their lenses Ever.. It goofs up the focusing on AF... they say. I leave my filter on most of the time, there are some times I will take it off, but it goes right back on again for protection.. This size filter (77 mm) goes on a large reach zoom lens for wild life photography is the reason I bought this. While out in the woods and fields, brush and corn cobs hitting my lens all the time while I walk through. So I wanted protection over the lens so I don't damage the outer glass..... Thank You.

UV filters on the lens is clear, and lets through only some of the UV light. Works like a charm. Also protects the outer lens glass from scratches, water, and dust, very nice to have on your lens for protection.

Does exactly what I need it to do without distorting the image. The lens is protected and keeps dust off.

It protects my lens and has been good in most situations. At night I have noticed light reflected on it creation a double image from time to time.

Skylight filters aren't the sexiest purchases you can make, but they are some of the smartest ones. The filter does virtually nothing for your photos, but it does provide a level of protection to your lens, keeping it a little safer from dirt, rain and flying debris. It truly is a cheap insurance policy for your very expensive lenses. The Insignia filter does a great job in this role, and is priced very reasonably as well. If I needed a skylight for another lens, I'd be happy to get another Insignia.

My professional lens in too expensive to take the chance of getting scratches. The lens is great for protection.
