Love the size of the Mini, but otherwise "meh."
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Overall I'm satisfied with this phone. I really like the smaller size - I can fit it into a front or back pant pocket and not have to carry it around (since I am a guy and don't have a purse or other place to put it). However, there are some features I miss from my Pixel phone. I switched to an iPhone because my Pixel 3 XL battery was swollen and I feared it would fail or the battery would explode during charging. Everyone else in my extended family has iPhones, so I figured having FaceTime and Find my Friends would be useful. I am most annoyed that I was paying $17 per month for what I thought was complete device protection, but the guy at the Verizon store said my situation was not covered. So my advice to Verizon customers is to save your money and not bother. I have since cancelled device protection on the iPhone. I also find it annoying that this carries over when you get a new phone - it is tied to your number and not the device. Migrating apps and data was surprisingly straight-forward using the migration utility. But here are some things I am not fond of: The ability to arrange apps on the screens is surprisingly limited. If you group apps, the icons are so small that they are barely discernable. Hence, there is no easy way to organize your apps and the app library categories are not customizable. I had to create a spreadsheet to sort apps the way I wanted and then use the tedious " edit home screen" menu to drag the icons from screen to screen. I tried the reset menu but that just re-arranges the apps back to factory default. One would think that you could name the screens or override the default categories on the app library screen. Apple could make some really simple improvements that would make organizing apps way easier. Also, the "Swipe up to open" thing makes absolutely no sense if I have the face unlock feature set up. Android had a fingerprint reader n the back of the phone but does not require further interaction to open the phone. When highlighting text to edit or correct something, Android has a magnifier feature that makes positioning the cursor vary easy. The iPhone doesn't have it. Scrolling is surprisingly herky jerky on the iPhone - the Pixel was very smooth, scrolling on the iPhone is very rough. This may have to do with the refresh rate since the processors are generally on par. Perhaps most disconcerting is how often apps seem to hang - one gets the circle spinner quite frequently and nothing happens until you close the app and open it again. Surprised that this happens on the latest and greatest iPhone 12. Or, the apps just hang and none of the menus / selections work at all. Another feature lacking on the iPhone is the ability to "clear all" from the view of all the open apps. Really? I realize the operating system manages memory but I don't find having all of the previously opened apps to scroll through very useful. After about 10 or so the list becomes unmanageable. Please give us a "clear all" feature. I figured out that you can grab a bunch of 3 or 4 apps at a time to clear, but that' s a lot of unnecessary swipes. On the plus side, the Apple Watch I got is pretty amazing in the available apps and how elegantly it is integrated with the phone. I was using a Fitbit and I would say the Apple Watch is way more functional and can do the steps / sleep tracking pretty well once you find and install apps you like. I am particularly impressed with the ekg and sp02 measuring apps and how numerous apps can be integrated with the Health app. So, in summary, do I prefer the iPhone to a Pixel phone? Not really, they both have their pros and cons. For users who do not use a lot of apps or like to really personalize their phone, the iPhone maybe preferable since it is more straight forward than an Android phone. But for "power users," Android might be a bit more flexible / customizable. It took me forever to get the app screens set up the way I wanted and I just hope I don't have to do it again.

Great product, fast service in-store!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed.I was looking for a smaller iphone and this was perfect! I bought from Best Buy for a fantastic deal they had on this phone and it was super easy to just go to the store to have the techs to set up and transfer data from my other phone. Overall had a great experience that took the least amount of time setting up a phone and much faster than every other time I've gone to a phone provider directly.

Great little phone
||Posted .I just got my new iPhone 12 mini. I’m still learning it’s features and how to navigate it but I’m very happy with it so far. The screen is bright and clear as are the pictures and the battery stays charged much longer than my last phone. I opted for the mini for the ease of carrying it in a pocket or my cycling Jersey. I

Learning Technology Curve
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Apple makes very good, reliable products, and they last long, with proof from my last I-Phone 6. It takes a while to get used to all of the functions of this new phone , but eventually you'll get used to it! Technology is very challenging for people my age , but if we want to co-exist with the current trends ,it's obvious we are going to have to learn all the protocols that go with these new products. The same goes for the Smart TV I bought at Best Buy last year, it was a learning curve!!

Best iPhone Yet
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This form factor of this phone is perfect for me and the performance couldn't be better. I've used most of the iPhones and this is my favorite. I always felt that the 11 was way too big to use with 1 hand and had unsightly bezels. On this, however, screen doesn't feel too small (I cast movies to the TV, why watch on a phone?). I was apprehensive about the battery life, but it's good enough and charges really quickly. While yes it's noticeably less than the battery on the iPhone 11, if you're coming from literally any phone other than the 11, this will be the same or better.

Love the mini!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I recently switched from PC to Mac so when I needed a new phone, I knew I wanted to switch to the iPhone as well. I had a Galaxy Note 5 for a long time and was starting to get tired of the giant size, so the iPhone mini was very appealing to me. Thanks to the amazing deal from Best Buy, I was able to buy the mini and upgrade the storage. Now I can always have all my music with me as well. I also love how this phone fits in my pocket!

iPhone SE to iPhone 12 Mini
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. After a lot of research and much discussion, decided to choose the iPhone 12 Mini over iPhone SE (2nd generation) and other iPhone models. Glad I did. Still missing an actual 'home' button, but am adjusting to that. Bummed that it doesn't come with a wall charger, but making due.

Q: QuestionI have an active Verizon iPhone and account. I need to replace my current phone. Can I purchase this from Best Buy and "transfer" it over to my account so it is activated, and if so, can I do that on my own or do I have to go to a Verizon store?
Asked by DT.
- A:Answer I was in this same situation about a month ago, an active Verizon customer wanting to upgrade my phone (the one I had was 4 years old). When I bought my new phone through the Best Buy website it provided the option to add on a free set-up appointment in a Best Buy store. I added this on as I was already picking up the phone from my Best Buy store and scheduled the appointment for when I wanted to pick it up. They did everything for me including activating the phone and transferring everything from my old phone to the new one! For reference, I was going from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone 12 mini. Verizon can also do the activation in store, and I'm not sure if you can do it on your own. I am just not very good with tech compared to others my age and figured I would have Best Buy do it for me since it was free to add on the appointment!

Q: QuestionDoes Best Buy take trade-ins for a new Apple 12 mini purchase?

This question was asked about the related product: Apple - iPhone 12 mini 5G 128GB - Green (Verizon)
- A:Answer No, they don’t. I tried and they said it’s too early. I don’t like the phone, personally, due to all of the bugs. Wireless charging wouldn’t work after updating to 14.2.1. Also, Apple Watch series 4 keeps resetting itself and not communicating with the phone, etc. I downgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro. They battery life is much better.

Q: QuestionDoes this phone still require a screen saver be applied or is the glass shatter resistant?
Asked by MaryK.
This question was asked about the related product: Apple - iPhone 12 mini 5G 128GB - Green (Verizon)
- A:Answer Although ceramic shield protects from drops/cracks… It however does not protect any better from the last generations in regards to scratching. So you still might want to get a screen protector if that is something you’re worried about. Hope this helps!
