Great NASPosted .
We purchased this NAS to replace a Buffalo Linkstation Duo. The Linkstation is still running fine, but we wanted to upgrade before a catastrophic failure happened (that has happened in the past). Our goals were to find a device that could help our growing, multi-faceted non-profit organization (more users), add storage space, and reduce response time from the NAS device (the Linkstation Duo is not a fast device when it comes to handling multiple users' requests), while maintaining data security and redundancy. The Buffalo Terastation has been able to do this for us, and it adds extra capabilities that we've not used yet. The Terastation 5200 is MUCH more responsive than the Linkstation Duo was, and we haven't gotten any "Network is busy" messages when trying to access folders. We map folders rather than using the iSCSI capability. Remote access has been easier and faster. Files linked via our website back to the TS (mostly audio) load much faster, too. We are using the TS with the raid keeping the data synchronized to keep our data intact in case of a HD failure. Our former Linkstation will probably become a backup for the TS. Personally, one of my favorite things about the TS is that it has two network ports (compared to one on the Linkstation). While the TS was on the main network, I was able to connect PCs to the TS directly and take advantage of its Gigabit port. Moving files through the network (100 megabit) would have taken hours, but with a separate direct Gigabit connection it took about 30 minutes. While setting up users and groups, I opened multiple browser windows to access the TS's admin panel to help each step go faster. The TS helped us achieve our goals without breaking the budget. I'll add that my experience with Buffalo's tech support was positive, too. They helped me successfully migrate from the Linkstation to the Terastation without too much difficulty (I just needed a little patience to get everything moved over and set up). So far, I've liked the product enough to get one for home!I would recommend this to a friend
