Fun oldie now on BLURAY!
||Posted .I was really excited when this was planned to come out. I remember ordering this movie off pay-per-view back when I was in high school and how much it used to make me laugh and make me scared. The performances have obviously gone down quality since I last washed it, but it was still a fun revisit. You can't beat the price either. That and comes with a digital copy, yes please! It's funny that they're doing all these remakes of Buffy right now so this was a cool item to get.

The One True Slayer...
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. In this one Buffy Summers (played by Kristy Swanson) has the lifestyle of a dense cantaloupe. It involves shopping, dating the most loser jock at school, being with the in crowd, but essentially treating everyone they think is beneath them like crap. Basically she’s like Cher from Clueless. A dude named Merrick (played by Donald Sutherland) tells her she is not only a Slayer, she is, “The Slayer”, and it’s up to her to defend the world from vampires. She concedes to some training from Merrick who also can’t seem to stop running into Pike (played by Luke Perry). Pike and Buffy become friends and work together to combat the forces of a powerful vampire named Lothos (played by Rutger Hauer). Lothos has some weird crush on Buffy, and seems to both want to kill her and marry her, or something, I don’t know. Pike's friend Benny is played by David Arquette who is one of the more fantastic characters in this movie. Paul Ruebens also had a funny role in this as Amilyn. The Blu-Ray is amazingly clear and the picture is percision. If you only have the DVD of this, I highly suggest an upgrade.

"Homework. Cheerleading practice. Killing vampires
||Posted .Many people forget that this gloriously cheesy, lovely movie was the world's introduction to Buffy, the Vampire Slayer (albeit a less dark and serious version than fans of the tv show may be used to), and a product of Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer (TV), Angel (TV), Firefly (TV), Dr. Horrible, The Avengers, etc....) as well as the triumphant return of Paul Reubens, aka Pee-wee Herman. I love that classic actors like Rutger Hauer and Donald Sutherland get in on the fun, with Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, Hilary Swank, David Arquette , and Stephen Root (remember Milton, from Office Space? Not to mention a huge list of acting and voice credits), really making this campy vampire movie classic. If you're looking for "serious" vampire flicks, this isn't for you. If you're looking for some laughs, great one-liners and the story of a classic, early 90's valley girl, turned the latest in a long-line of initially reluctant Slayers, give this a try. If you look carefully, you might also see the tiny cameos from Ben Affleck, Alexis Arquette, Seth Green, Ricki Lake and even Slash, from Guns N Roses!

Goofy Fun
||Posted .Many people will be familiar with the television show, but the film which came several years previously is sort of a cult classic, at best. That's too bad, because it's a fun little movie, unpretentious and kind of sweet in its own peculiar way. I remember seeing the movie in a theatre when I was in high school; I was a little confused by it, being not all that sure whether I was supposed to be laughing or not, or whether I was supposed to be scared or not. But, hey, I was a stupid teenager. Watching the movie again several years later, I thought it was pretty hilarious (intentionally) in places. It also drags in places, but all in all, it's enjoyable
