An update on support from Best Buy

Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and employees, and that’s why we’ve made some updates to how we provide in-store and in-home services, as well as how our Geek Squad can support you. For more details on those changes, please follow the links below.

How to get support.

We are working hard to help customers as quickly as possible, but the wait times for Geek Squad Support by phone or online chat may be longer than normal. We ask that you seek support or repair only when you have lost the ability to use your device. If you are able to wait for support, it will allow us to assist those with the most urgent needs. An alternative option may be reaching out directly to the manufacturer of your device.

Did you receive a laptop or desktop shipping box from your local Best Buy store?

  • Before you ship your device, please call 1-800-Geek Squad (1-800-433-5778).

In-home services.

  • Delivery to your doorstep is still available for appliances, TVs and fitness equipment.
  • Installation, recycling and haul-away services are currently not available.

 

If you have an order scheduled for installation in the next 30 days, please expect an email or text from Best Buy about your delivery options.

In-store services.

  • In-store service appointments are currently not available, including computer repair, cell phone repair and Autotech installation
  • All previously scheduled appointments have been cancelled through April 30.
  • If you have a device that needs to be picked up, please refer to "How to pick up your device that was repaired in a store."
  • Trade-in and recycling services are currently not available.
  • If you've received an email informing that your product was approved for a replacement, please refer to "Completing an approved Geek Squad replacement."

How to pick up your device that was repaired in a store.

Options for picking up your repaired device vary based on store.

In order to return your device to you quickly and safely, we will take additional cleaning measures before returning it, and we will not be offering in-person reviews of the completed work.

Once your repair is finished, you will receive a confirmation email or phone call with one of the following options:

 

 

Curbside Pickup.

1.      Receive confirmation that your repair is finished.

2.     Check the hours of your local store.

  • Most current store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but some stores may vary.

3.    Arrive at the store and alert the greeter of your Geek Squad pickup.

  • A government-issued ID or copy of your service order is required.

 

 

 

Ship to home.

1.      Receive confirmation that your repair is finished by phone from your local store.

2.     Provide your shipping address.

  • Your address must be in the continental U.S.
  • Someone 18 years of age or older must be present to accept delivery.
  • Devices cannot be shipped to a P.O. box.

Completing an approved Geek Squad replacement.

1.      Receive a confirmation email that your product was approved for replacement.

2.      Check the hours of your local store.

  • Most current store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., but some stores may vary.
  • Store must be open for Curbside Pickup.



3.    Arrive at the store and inform the greeter you have been approved for a Geek Squad replacement item.

  • To speed up the process, you should have the original purchase receipt of the item approved for replacement and your service order number or Return Authorization that is located in your confirmation email.

Utilizing a Geek Squad Box Kit.

1.    To obtain a Geek Squad Box Kit, which allows you to mail in a laptop or desktop for service repair, please call 1-800-Geek Squad (1-800-433-5778).

2.    If you've already received a Geek Squad Box Kit from your local Best Buy store:

  • Call 1-800-Geek Squad (1-800-433-5778) prior to shipping your device.
  • Follow the instructions inside the Geek Squad Box Kit.


Note:
Not all products are eligible for a Geek Squad Box Kit.

If you have reason to believe the repair of your device has been completed but you have not yet received confirmation, please contact the phone number on your service order that was provided at drop-off.

Returns and exchanges.

Our contactless services also extend to returns and exchanges, the period for which has been extended on most products so that you have more time. Only Best Buy employees are allowed in the stores, but we are determined to serve you as fully as we can.

Trade-in and recycling.

Unfortunately, we are temporarily unable to continue our product trade-in and recycling services.
