  • Key Specs
    • Storage Capacity: 2000 gigabytes (Measured in megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB) and terabytes (TB), this is the amount available for storing files, music, movies, photos and more. The total includes the capacity of the hard disk drive and solid state drive if both are included on the computer.)
    • Storage Drive Type: SSD (Traditional, mechanical hard disk drives are the most common type of storage because they're relatively inexpensive and offer huge capacities. However, they also generate both noise and heat. Solid state drives, also known as SSDs, are many times faster than hard disk drives and have no moving parts to wear out, but typically offer less capacity for the same price.)
    • Maximum Read Speed: 3400 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can read information; for example, opening files.)
    • Maximum Write Speed: 3000 megabytes per second (The greatest speed at which the device can write information; for example, saving files.)
    • Form Factor: M.2
    • Interface(s): PCIe Gen 3 x4 (Refers to the types of connections that devices use to interact and communicate with each other.)

Q: HI there! Will this drive work with an Asus Sabertooth X99 Rev 1 motherboard? If so, would it be m.2 Gen 3 or Gen 2? Thanks!

A: the mother board user manual says that's it's m.2 socket can handle both gen 2 and gen 3 speeds. So it looks like it should work and it run at gen 3 speeds.

Q: With the Memory Expansion for PS5 recently unlocked, can you now confirm if this M.2 Drive is compatible with the PS5 and if there is a Heat sink that can be paired with this device?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your query, we would like to inform you that the part#CT2000P5SSD8 is compatible with the system . Regards.

Q: How do I setup a raid array with this like combined storage? Current SSD is a micron 2210. I have a gaming laptop and want to future proof it, I want to use this SSD because its the same manufacturer and I'm hoping will be extremely compatible.

A: Hello, We thank you for your query. We are sorry to inform you but unfortunately we shall be unable to assist you with the raid configuration. In this case you shall need to contact your system manufacturer or OS support for the same. We would also like to inform you that if your system support M.2 NVME drive then it will certainly be compatible with your system Regards.

Q: Hi, does anyone know if this is RAID 0 / 1 Ready/ Capable?

A: Thank you for contacting Crucial. Regarding your query of the P5 SSD, we would like to inform you that you can use the part#CT2000P5SSD8 in RAID mode as well. However to use the SSD in RAID mode you need to configure that SSD in RAID 0/ 1 mode so that SSD can run as per your need. If you have any further query, we welcome your reply. Regards.

Q: Can this ssd be placed in a case to use in a drobo 5D ?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your query of the SSD, we would like to inform you that the part#CT2000P5SSD8 is not compatible with the system drobo 5D hence it will not work in it. If you have any further query we welcome your reply. Regards.

Q: does this come with software to clone windows to this m2 ssd and if so how easy or hard is it to do?

A: Thank you for your inquiry. Regarding your query of the SSD, we would like to inform you that the SSD part comes with free cloning software called as Acronis True Image. We would also like to inform you that the cloning process of the data from old drive to new Crucial drive is very easy process. If you have any further query we welcome your reply. Regards.

Q: Is this for ps5?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products and for your question. The expansion slot on the PS5 systems is currently disabled by Sony and will not accept any brand or type of additional SSD's being added at this time. This means that we have not been able to test out the Crucial P5 series and cannot confirm whether it will work or not until the expansion slot has been unlocked. The latest news that we have seen is that Sony might possibly unlock the expansion bay by the Summer of 2021 but you will want to reach out to them directly for further information on this subject.
