I had to get a power inverter for my 4100 mile trip from Chicago to Oregon and back. Along the way, I purchased this unit and used it extensively. The unit is well-made and gets the job done. I never had any issue with the power delivery but the hinge that swivels and the build quality could be better. At times, the hinge could be tight but definitely workable.
Best Buy had a pretty good deal on this and I am glad I was able to use my laptop while traveling.
I love this gadget! Im not sure how or why I went so long without it! I actually ordered it while driving and stopped during a trip to pick it up curbside from a local Best Buy.
I use it all the time on any long trip to plug in my Macbook Pro. It works perfectly. I did find that I had to use a usb to charge my phone plugged to my laptop rather than the slot provided on this gadget WHILE charging laptop. I only plug in laptop by itself. But its no inconvenience.
No overheating and no lag in charge vs. Use.
A:AnswerTo find out if this Cyber Power unit works on your device, just take the Amperage (AMPS) of your device & your Voltage draw (V) or (VOLTS) and multiply them together to get the number of Wattage or (W) draw needed to power your device. (Volts) X (Amps) = (Watts) Example... If you want to plug-in a laptop into this Cyber Power 160W unit and your laptop uses 1.3 Amps @ 120 Volts, then the Wattage required is 156W. The Cyber Power 160W unit will be suitable to work. The (12V DC) unit just needs to be rated @ a higher Wattage rating than your device draw to work and also to help avoid blowing a fuse on the vehicles (12V DC) cigarette outlet.
Hopefully this helps.... Thank You!
Power Inverter response (suggestion):
The CyberPower 160 Power Inverter (CPS160PBURC1) converts power from your vehicle's 12V DC power outlet to power up to 120 watts continuous to your connected equipment.
This device can be used with or without your car started but depending on the amount of current draw from your equipment, the car battery will eventually draw down. It’s best to start the car periodically to charge the battery as needed.
