These Speakers Are Amazing...Thank You Magnolia !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to a Magnolia Home theater showroom at my local Best Buy and was blown away by the BP7006 Def Tech speakers...compared to the similar priced Klipsch (Klipsch did have more defined highs but overall, the Def Techs put them to shame). I am using these with a 52" Sony XBR, a Def Tech 2002 center channel speaker and two Speakercraft AIM 8's in the rear ceiling...also using a Def Tech supercube 2 subwoofer...I like the fact that the salesman (manager) put together a package price based on the fact that I was buying a lot of stuff...didn't plan on getting a new receiver either but did wind up getting a Denon 2808 receiver...didn't mind only two HDMI inputs which work just fine for me and although only two HDMI's, this receiver otherwise is identical to the $1,150 2809...and I only paid $599 for it in what was probably the only unopened 2808 around...took some time to find but was well worth it...you can't believe the sound in my home theater system...it ROCKS !!!!

Great investment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Def Tech. tower speakers ROCK!! I recommend, to get the best quailty sound out of theses speakers, have your total entertainment system connected with the best quailty equipment possible: banana plugs, high quality speaker wire (Monster XPHP-CI Ultra High Performance), a decent receiver to process sound, name brand HDMI cables that supports 7.1, quaility subwoofer cables because each of the towers has its own subwoofer, and a high quailty power conditioner. The detail in sound produced by these speakers is superb. They are a excellent investment for viewing and listening to sports, action movies, video games and music. Well worth the price. If you have the money, GO HIGH-END ALL AROUND, makes a substancial diffrence in sound quality and overall enjoyment.

Best all in 1 you can buy!

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I believe I finally found the speakers I've been searching for. I use the speakers 80-90% of the time listening to music, and the rest of the time watching movies. I rated these speakers 5 stars for music, and 4 to 4.5 for movies. My family room is as acoustically challenging as it can be. It has all tile floors; the furniture arrangement and shape of the room make it very difficult to ensure every sitting position is in an acceptable sweet spot. Only one position receives adequate bass/treble levels, while any other sitting position has either too much/little bass or too little/much treble, etc I've auditioned just about every speaker, subwoofer brand and tried all possible speaker/subwoofer placements around the room to no avail. I've come close, but was never completely satisfied. Then came the BP7006. These bipolar speakers and their omni-directional aluminum tweeters distribute beautiful mids and highs throughout the entire listening area EQUALLY. The BP7006's fully independent, individually adjustable amplified subwoofers, when teamed up with my strategically placed Velodyne powered subwoofer, ensure that perfectly equal bass/low frequency notes can be heard and felt from ANY listening position in the room. It took a LOT of tweaking (subwoofer volume for each speaker and the Velodyne, distance of the towers from the walls, placement of the Velodyne, etc.) but in the end, the efforts were well worth it. Below are my settings: 1. BP7006's amplified subwoofers facing AWAY from each other. 2. BP7006's about 8 inches from the back wall. Velodyne Subwoofer near the opposite wall. 3. BP7006's connected to my Yamaha Receiver via 12 guage speaker wires. Although the BP7006's can be connected to the receiver by LFE input, I left those disconnected. My receiver's LFE output was hooked up only to my powered Velodyne subwoofer. 4. Amplifier settings: Front speakers (BP7006's) set to LARGE, but the receiver's Bass Output was set to send all frequencies 90Hz and below to BOTH the Velodyne Subwoofer and the BP7006's subwoofers. Listening to music with these speakers is pure heaven especially with their warm, soothing sound. I could listen to music ALL DAY, hear all the details and not feel fatigued. Movies' soundtracks and effects are reproduced wonderfully, and teamed up with my Def Tech CLR2002 center channel, every sound is clear and crisp. Highly recommended, and I wished I'd tried them sooner ---that would've saved me a lot of headaches!!

Great, depending on room size
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say, these speakers are simply amazing. Although I did return them for the 7004's, it was NOT because the speakers werent good. Believe me I wish could have saved the bucks.. but when it comes down to room size and matching the speaker with the right center channel, the 7006 was just not enough... again, GREAT SOUND.. both in HT and Music. What is unfortunate is that you don't see many folks who write reviews .. tell you what the size of their room is. My room is 13.5' x 23' with a ceiling height of 10'. The 7006's were JUST a little to small for this room. I have the DEF TECH CLR 2002 Center, which is also a little to much for the 7006's. Even though the speakers have powered subs, I already own the Klipsch 10 powered sub, so this is also added in my configuration. My receiver is the new Onkyo 807.. (i'll be adding a review on that) and my rear speakers are built in wall Boston Acoustics.... Either way, I had the 7006's installed in this config, and although the sound was amazing, they were just a little to weak for the room. Beautiful sound, great look.. the only thing I don't like is the sock these are wrapped in.. kind of strange!

High End Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had these speakers for two days now, and I love them. The bass is so deep that you want need an additional sub with them. I'm using them exclusively for music. I have an Infinity set-up for my movie watching, which sounds awesome. I was worried that these speakers would not be big enough for the room I'm using them in. They fill the room with plenty of sound and power to spare. I'm powering them with a Harmon Kardan receiver. The sound is so clean and spacious. Just listen to Eric Clapton's "Lonely Stranger" from his "Unplugged" cd. These speakers are making me fall in love with music listening all over again. The bass is tighter and cleaner than using an outside sub. The cross over points between the mid ranges and the lows is seamless...You want believe how much bass these speakers can deliver. Do yourself a favor and check these speakers out. They definitely deliver!

Superb speakers for home theatre
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned numerous speakers over the years from Vandersteen to B&W to Paradigm. Paradigm was the first speaker I tried with a built-in sub. I tried these speakers because I wanted something smaller and also wanted to eliminate my large sub. I was concerned these were too inexpensive for my tastes, but loved the form factor. Once I hooked them up (to my Denon 28xx receiver) I was shocked. They sounded fantastic and the imaging was very cool. The entire room felt more open. The built-in subs were great for my needs. If you are a hard-rocker, high volume listener, I would recommend something different. But for typical home theatre and music listening, these are an excellent buy and sound superb. Only thing I didn't like was the gloss finish. It chips pretty easily.

great speakers, but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these speakers about 5 years ago. The subwoofer amp went bad in one of the speakers, making a whistling noise. Luckily, the 3 year warranty was in effect. Now the other speaker has the same problem and its out of warranty. I don't know the cost of repair but i'll have to pay it as the noise is unbearable even for action movies, let alone music. Other than that, nothing beats Def tech in their price range. I went full range all around and believe me its serious. I originally bought the BP2004s (which never gave me a problem) about 7 years ago that I now use as surrounds and BP2xs for the sides and the 2300 center. Beats any movie theater I've ever been to hands down. Highly recommended, just don't be surprised if the amp decides to sing along with the programs.
