at least it's good.....

Fortunately in this game, if you hit a car going 200mph, you won't be facing murder charges. However, it's kinda hard to realize if you're going fast enough. 100mph looks like 40mph, and even when hitting the nitrous, it seems as if your car's saying, "uhhh, I'm going, I'm going!!!" instead of "ZOOOOM!!!!" like the previous Need For Speed games. At least NFS lets you KNOW you were going 100mph....this game's screen doesn't start shaking 'til you hit 200mph....which you can't hit unless you either have an exotic car such as the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, or a fully tuned class 3 car....and upgrades aren't cheap. It'll take a while before you finally hit the point where you'll be getting every upgrade for every car, but once you DO reach that point, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is free. Cars, kits, performance mods, EVERYTHING. The game, while fun, gets hard quickly. Let's say you're in the class 3 bike and you set it to Hardest. I think it's a bit TOO unfair to be paired up with the Kawasaki Ninja and a fully tuned Audi R8, both obviously faster than your little class 3 bike. I wasn't able to beat one of the tournaments until I got lucky and won a Murcielago, then it was easier (but not much) to win the others. Once you get the Kawasaki Ninja fully tuned, the only way to get a challenge IS to play on Hardest, since the bike literally smokes EVERYTHING. It can hit hard corners at 100mph. Try that in an exotic. This game DOES shine in customization, even though personally, the scene's trash in my opinion. I can't stand to see a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with Lamborghini doors, or a Nissan 240SX with 20 inch rims on it. Typical ricer upgrades, but if you MUST have them.....hey, your money. Even though I wish they had useful upgrades like putting actual race kits in the game instead of some ugly widebody kits. But I do like being able to put Volk GT-C rims on a Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, and paint the entire thing black. I also appreciate the option to modify the interior, from neon, to steering wheels, and even the stitching. Overall, if you just want a good racing game, this is your bet. If you want something that can be insanely hard, this is it. However, I MUST mention that whenever I got tossed off my bike, I'd spawn in ridiculous places. One time, I got thrown off my bike so high, EVERYONE finished before my character even hit the ground to respawn, so I had to restart the race. Also, once I hit a car, got tossed off, and spawned right in front of the same car I had just hit....spinning my wheels, and the car not moving an inch.......and there goes my first place position....... If you can deal with those setbacks, buy the game.....it's really it until either a better NFS comes out, or Gran Turismo 5 FINALLY decides to come out.

great game, big problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this game is a very good racing game with alot of customization options, a big city to explore and even add on content. this game also supports trophies though some are kinda lame...spend a total of 10 minutes in the air, drive 50 miles on one wheel on motorcycle, 50 miles on 2 wheels in a car, and even drive a total of 1000 miles or some other number that is a little high. also the new south central expansion is a pain to install on ps3. there are compatablility issues. first you have to install the free edition, load the game, make sure it worked and you have a bigger map, then download and install the purchased version, load game, then install vehicle packs, load game..,.after about 3 hours of playing it will finally kick in and register to meet the guy at the new garage. the cars are available before then though in your starting garage. i believe they just released a compatability patch finally to correct the issue but they dropped the ball on this game bigtime with the purchased add on content. nice going rockstar. also i feel that if i have to pay 9.99 for something i should be able to access it right away, not waste 3 hours for it to finally kick in. that was bad and i wish everyone who had to go through the problems would have gotten something for the trouble. it is in the past, it works finally, but the game does freeze to often and it isnt the ps3. it has froze during rate a ride, loading in the garage, loading before races, and it has also froze when exiting a garage. not sure if that can be patched or if it will be since it took so long to get a fix for purchased add on content. outside of those problems the game is great, before the release of south central add on content there was only the freezing issue. this game is worth a buy but due to lack of timely support and the freezing issue it should either be reduced in price or the add on content should be half price or free. all in all there are plenty of races to keep you busy, though they are easy, and it has online modes as well as well as capture the flag online which is cool. buy the game but be educated on the problems. if the download doesnt work, just make sure you have the expanded content...the extra part on the bottom part of the map, compare the in game map to the map that came with the game (little poster insert). you cant miss it if you compare it. if that works just give it a few hours and play the game, do some races and it should kick in.

got this on release day
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.got it on release day, like 4-5 months ago ive played it every day since then. ive done the career mode 5 times to the end and its an awesome game the cars handle diferently, there are tons of race courses circut, ordered landmark and there there are battles like capture the flag keep away ect.. you can even make your own race with race editor. then theres download content with the south central map (free) the premium south central pack with new races missions and cars and tow other car packs as of 5/18/09 betting there will be more there are tunners, muscle, luxury, exotic, bikes, lowriders, suv's think i got em all the online coumnity is booming with racing and crusing and then theres the social club at rockstargames.com/socialclub where you can register and unlock in game rewards like hydrolics and the audi R8 ,up load photos of your cars from your game to the social club do goal attacks and have your time posted on the leaderbords for all to see and then there are the tournaments where you can compete to win prizes of various degrees i would recomend this to a stranger its so good :)

The best of the Midnight Clubs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is good for graphics and customization. I enjoy buying and creating special details on my cars and bikes. That is all good. The only thing that I dont like is the campaign series missions. These are too long and get very boring. Also these are tricky and frustrating when all of a sudden a bus comes around a corner and causes you to lose. The rest of the game is spot on and I enjoy playing it. It is worth the 30 dollars that it is now, and I cant wait to buy the South Central Pack. All and All, it is a great game.

A must have racing game!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 1st MC game and it didn't let me down The graphics are not top notch as other games on the PS3 so I gave it a rating of 3 I won't repeat what other reviewers have already said regarding a few things As far as game play goes, the 1st day it took a good hour or two to get used to the night driving...At top speed you can easily find yourself going over a hill or around the corner and slam head on into a car or something that is almost invisible unless your 100 yrds in front of it, very very frustrating... Once you get group 3 cars, go straight for the bike dukanti 999 or something...It gives you the acceleration, speed and handeling you will need to beat the tournaments etc which give you the rewards of the concept cars which look awesome...Also the ninja bike in group 4 is da bomb, just wished had one in real life hehe *A tip* Most the tournaments or races you need to finish 1st place 3 times in order to win and unless your evil canevil, you will find yourself restarting the race in the middle or almost at the end...Dont do it!! Even if you finish 2nd or 3rd you will get much needed rep and cash...Cash will add up over time so you can get the bigger better cars in the later groups such as 4 and 5 ok I hope my review has helped those who buy the game get a head start...

Really fun racing game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game overall is really fun. Online play is great and there is hardly any traffic, so if u want to just drive around or find the 60 collectables throughtout the city it is great to do. The career mode is exciting but a little difficult. The car selection in the game is pretty good but i thought they would have more of a variety of newer model cars. But, they make up for it with the customization that is available on all cars. They also have motorcyles available to drive too, which is a lot easier to drive then on the previous midnight club. The game also supports trophies and is one of the only games that i have that supports ingame music. The price of the game before christmas was unbeatable. It was $37.99 and if you are a reward zone member you received a $10 gift card with the purchase. I could not be more happy with the price of the game and the game itself.

its ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.ive always been a Midnight Club fan , but when i popped in this game this evening , played about half an hour and it just seemed downgraded. maybe i need to play a little more to actually get used to it. Customization seem good, graphics are nothing out of the ordinary (just like GTA)Cars choices dont seem like it alot but from what i hear they might add some more via PSN. hopefully this weekend i get to have some more time and play some more.

Best racing game on the next gen systems!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this game. i guess the people that have given in bad ratings arent into cars. i got this game for 40 bucks on sale at best buy. I love this game! it's very fun and is the first game on the ps3 that yu can play your own custom tracks ( that are saved on your ps3 harddrive) the online is very enjoyable. you can simply cruise around with your friends, alone, or make new friends. i've spent hours cruising around and showing off my rides. one thing i love is you can change your rcars while online without evn leaving the cruise. If you've been thinking about buying this game just go ahead and get it! it's a blast! if you liked the previous midnight club games you'll love this one!
