Good Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Device is great for lectures and interviews. Keeps recorded info in separate folders and separate files. Battery life seems to last a while if you put in on hold while not in use. Significantly smaller than most voice recorder which makes it convenient. My main problem with the device is that I cant upload my recordings onto my mac, but they will upload to any PC and the usb cable comes with this device which is a plus.

Great recorder..but confusing transfer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Olympus was great at first. I used it during class lectures and the playback is cool because it captures other student's comments during class also. However, I tried downloading the files to my pc but I had such a hard time. A message keeps popping up about a file that's "missing." Very frustrating...that's was the only flaw for me.

Excellent Value!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been using the old fashioned micro cassette recorder that only held 60 minutes and was sometimes unreliable when the tape got jammed and often times, the playback quality was poor. With this digital recorder, it has clear playback and hours and hours of time to record. If your meeting, class or seminar goes over an hour - no problem. It can handle it. The other great thing is that it can be uploaded to your computer for saving and sharing. This is a terrific tool that I find useful in so many situations. Makes notetaking a breeze!!!

Doesn’t work with Macs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before buying an Olympus VN-3100 voice recorder I went to their web page to make sure there was software available for the Mac. The software downloads page: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_downloads.asp?id=1272 showed both Mac and PC. I bought the recorder which came with a CD including only PC software. I went to the web page to download the Mac version and received the message “No software available at this time.” I called the Olympus Support line where a technician (?) told me that “Macs don’t support MP3” - which is, of course, nonsense. I am functioning at this time by downloading to a PC and emailing the MP3 files to my Mac. But I have learned not to trust Olympus.
