This is a tricky problem, because a lot of protection plans don't cover items "lost or stolen", but the reason for the loss of the item was a defect in the item.

I would contact Best Buy directly to attempt to resolve the issue.

If u bought the protection plan and have everything but the part lost...I'm pretty sure it's covered. If not, u should call the manufacturer.

From what I was told in store when I asked what it covered they told me it covered pretty much everything but lost or stolen
