Hi Joanmo- Thanks for viewing! The refrigerator is designed with as quiet an operation as possible. You can view a short video about normal bottom freezer refrigerator sounds at this link: https://www.youtube.com/embed/0v2MbvX3fX0?rel=0 - Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and when surrounding sounds are low, you may hear a pulsating sound while it is operating. We take pride in the craftsmanship, innovation and design that goes into every GE Appliances product, and we think you will too. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA
