Hi RON, thanks for reaching out! The 24" model that you purchased is only able to be installed via a countertop. We would not recommend attempting to build this unit into surrounding cabinetry do to the fact that this unit has not been tested or approved for that style of installation. The PEB7227ANDD model is a built in model that has the same cutout space needed as your older PEB7226SFSS model. The new unit, while the body is not stainless steel, does have stainless steel trim kits available to it to help it blend with the rest of your kitchen.
