They will charge you the difference, and charge you for another protection plan. It was a waste of money, they do not fix, they tell you it is unfixable. Trust me buy the HP warranty from their site. Had I done this, the hard drive would have been replaced (yes I called HP to verify this) and I would not be out hundreds of dollars for the exact same laptops I had.
