Each person I have asked has a different answer. When purchasing a tv, does the geek squad warranty kick in after the manufacturer’s year warranty expires or does it have double coverage? null

Great question, and thank you for taking the time to ask us! Our Protection Plans run in parallel with the manufacturers warranty, and does start at the time of purchase. Should there be a manufacturing defect, some manufacturers allow Best Buy to fulfill their warranty. Normally speaking, the first year should double covered with most brands, so to speak, but any additional years outside of the manufacturers warranty would need to be covered by a Geek Squad Protection plan for assistance from Best Buy! The Best Buy extended warranty starts concurrent with the manufacturer warranty. I just found this out with my tv.

Had the warranty started the year after manufacture warranty my tv would have been covered, but since it started day 1 after purchase, my tv was 1 year out of warranty. 

I also verified this with Geeksquad because I was not happy about it. You are basically wasting one year since manufacturer covers it but if it breaks down in the first year (not likely) Geeksquad would replace it if it wasn't something that could be repaired instead of having to send it to manufacture to repair.

It kicks in after the manufacturer's year warranty expires. There is not double coverage.
