In my experience the generation of the CPU is generally not something people would notice on their own as the performance of any laptop or desktop is affected by numerous factors, not just the CPU iteration. I bought this laptop and was on the fence about the i5 processor and frankly it runs extremely fast, at low cost.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This laptop was just recently on sale. I bought it at $729.99 not too long ago. It's not on sale now, but the one with the 7th Gen i5 and other *essentially* same specs (slightly slower RAM but still has an SSD) is at $579.99. Not sure if it's worth it as I don't own it but the 8th Gen i5 seems to be substantially better than the 7th Gen i5.
