Specific directions will be in box. Generally, manufacturer pre-installs a thermal adhesive strip on the heat sink, you peel off a protective backing, line up the heat sink over the drive, and press it onto the chip side of the drive. Takes less than 30 seconds to do.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well. Its a heatspread heat sink. You just take the adhesive plastic slim cover. Like a sticker. Then you line it up where you want it Just generally you need to do a 6th graders ability to align it to the rectangular stick. The heat spread is rectangular. Same size. Just dont block the screw area. If you suck at aligning it. You can er on the side of being off or away from the screw port. (There is only one screw port.) You can be off by like couple mills. Just dont overlap more towards the screw side.. Because then.. You wont be able to screw it down with the heat spread in the way. Mostly.. There is like 3 or 4 black chips on top. So as long as the heat sink covers these four.. Your golden. It will soak up the heat from th3 chips. The heat sink is like a big blanket. So you cant miss it. The four small chip on top of the m.2 is probably only 1 inch and the heat spread is about 3 inches. As long as it blankets the 1 inch chip.. Then it absorbs the heat and spreads it to the 3 inch heat spread.it just gives it a place to spread heat. Bigger area equal faster dissapitation of heat with the inner fan having a bigger catchers mitt to blow air on it, which helps dissapite heat. Basically. You cant mess it up. But some people still manage to mess it up.
