I have this model and my mother has the model with the mic boom. We’ve called each other and swapped headsets to test and I personally can’t notice a difference of one over the other. My mother said that after she bought hers, she wished she would have bought one without the mic boom since it can’t be removed and can get in the way from time to time.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The aftershock device is strictly an open air device so the microphone will catch other sounds are the people speaking if they are close enough. Devices with the exterior microphones may have a more direct way of listening to your voice because of the ability to locate the mic closer to your mouth. But I have not experienced any problems so far is with the microphone for the aftershockWhen speaking to someone over my one plus phone and it is very clear and it has not yet picked up any ambient cells from around me.
