The volume is excellent when used with my smartphone.with the controls of my phone as the controls of the volume.

I haven't had any issues with the volume. I turn the volume all the way up on my phone, and when I'm out walking I actually have to turn the volume down on the headphones to keep it at a good level and not destroy my hearing.
