Yes. That will work fine. The range is not 50 ft. It is ok for a large room but will start breaking up if you move too far into another room.

I have gotten upto 60' with line of site but with 2 walls drops to about 15'feet and I hooked up through headphone jack

Yes, you can use an adapter without signal loss. I use the same set-up with my TASCAM 24-track recording console. As for the 50' range, I really don't know as my usage is limited to within 10-15 feet.

Yea you can use it on the headphone jack. I bought it for my classic 160 ipod so i can use my air pods and it works. The volume isn't that high but it works. Haven't tested the range since my ipod is always in my pocket.
