“Can I listen to my Bluetooth earphones at the same time my wife listens to the tv directly.? If so, how do I connect? When I plug the device into my headphone jack, it turns off tv speaker.”

I think you have to use the left/right audio out connectors to keep the sound on the tv simultaneously . If you use the headphone jack it cancels out the speakers on the tv.
