You would need wireless internet to connect the firestick, there is not a way to connect it via ethernet cable. If you use an Amazon Fire TV they have ethernet port.

Please try again later.Hi Rich, most likely a smart TV come with Netflix, Sling TV and other programs already installed on the TV but to use them programs you need two things 1. Internet connection and 2. A account with them programs such as Netflix and Sling TV. But to use most of the features on a smart TV you must have some type of internet connection. The best Internet connection to have with a smart TV is a wifi connection. But you can check your smart TV (the back and on the side) to see if you have a Ethernet port which could also be called a LAN port. If your TV have one of them ports on it, then you call hook a Ethernet cable straight up to your TV from the Internet router. Now, the only other Internet service through a cable connection that's not wireless that I can think of is "dial up" and I don't think you would be able to use this product with dial up Internet service because it's too slow. The best thing to do is upgrade to wifi service which is must faster and you would have no problem watching movies and shows plus if you had wifi in your home you probably won't need this product because you would have everything already on your TV and you could also download other programs such as Kodi right on your TV.
