Not real sure about metro but I use my Verizon phone as a hotspot and watch my firestick

All you need is Wi-Fi, only one thing plugs into this and it's the power supply just like the charger on your phone. It's runs off the Wi-Fi and also has a connection for Bluetooth

WIFI is a must for the fire stick. i doubt that anything from a phone would work.
