• You need a wifi network. You connect the fire stick to the network and then it works.

• The Fire Stick installs directly to the television...you do need WIFI.

• You don't install it to your modem. It connects wirelessly to your router. As soon as you hook up the firestick it will have you select your wireless network and then you just have to enter the password.
