Hell RC and thank you for your question! The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is an ad-supported version that displays sponsored screensavers and book recommendations exclusively on the device's lock screen while it is asleep. The ads only appear on the lock screen while the device is asleep and never during reading, navigating your library or shopping. If you want to remove these ads, you can pay a one time fee ($20 or less) to remove these ads for the life of the device. Hope this helps! Have a great day!
