• Kindle models sold in retail stores outside of Amazon's website are the special offers model although one can pay the difference after purchase to disable special offers from appearing.

• No, this one has ads. But they are only on the lock screen, so they are not intrusive at all.

• I have the cheaper Kindle that has ads. But they only show up on the screensaver and at the bottom of the list of books on the Kindle. Ads never appear when reading. Sometimes they offer nice tips on books I'm interested in.
