“With a PDF that is copied to the documents folder....( i do this on my old Kindle) will I be able to adjust the font? I cannot do that on the old keyboard model.”

You can adjust the font but there won't be word-wrap so a better idea would be to convert the PDF to the kindle format and copy that instead.
