Hello lovetoread, the Kindle Paperwhite does not come with a case. The Metallic Raspberry is the color of the actual device.

I have this exact one, and it does not come with a case, The back of the device is raspberry color and doesn't come apart. Looks great in a clear case. Yes the case needs to be purchased separately. If you purchase any other case besides clear it will conceal the raspberry color.
