4 are on surge and 4 are on surge with battery. So to answer your question, only 4 outlets are on battery.

Thank you for your interest in our products. The previous poster is correct. This unit would provide 4 backup/surge outlets and 4 surge only outlets. Just note all the outlets would protect from surges.

Only 4 are battery back up.  Others are marked surge only.  I  used a multiplug to change orientation to allow for power adapters on my monitor, modem and router.
