Laser printers pull a LOT of power - possibly damaging the battery inside the UPS. You wouldn't want to hook up a space heater to a UPS for the same reason. Besides, why would you want a battery backup for a printer? It holds no permanent data after it finishes printing. Even if the power went out while printing, you could reprint the image from your UPS backed up computer. My advice - get a separate surge protector for your printer, rated for the amount of power your printer uses (this is important to prevent fire hazards), and plug it into an AC outlet. Or just plug in the printer directly, and buy a new one if the old one gets fried by lightning. They're cheap enough.
