A:AnswerWhat you speak of happened to my daughter. She lost the case but had the headphones. Hers were the first generation and with those headphones I was told you could use the regular case or the wireless. I chose to upgrade to the wireless and yes they worked right away. Just put the headphones in the case they paired with the case and she had music again. They worked perfectly for music and calls just like they are suppose to. Knowing what generation your headphones are is important I called Apple to ask, but the rep was not helpful I went to my local Mac store and they were able to tell me which case would work as a replacement. Then I went to Best Buy and purchased the case they had the better price. Any store that sells the product should be able to tell you what generation your headphones are.
