The answer is Yes. You can certainly put an individual AirTag for each phone, or just transfer your one singular AirTag to the other phone. The more AirTags you buy, the cheaper each one becomes. However, the limiting factor is the number of Bluetooth items your iPhone can accept.

Make sure when ordering you don’t just order the “loop” made that mistake and didn’t get the tag itself;(
