Yes it will give you the vicinity or area where it is located, but you will have to look around for it. I keep one in my car so if it gets stolen I can find it. I have checked my phone and see where I left it, like parking and my phone led me straight to my car.

It can be use to track any thing once it is in the presence of the item stolen . But it will not make any noise , you will just be able to see the location of your missing item on your phone because it works by Bluetooth .
