These plug directly into the lightning port for the newer model iPhones rather than the older models which had a headphone port. If your iphone lacks a headphone port, these are the proper EarPods for you.

It does not come with a 3.5 headphone adapter. It is straight Lightning cable. If you need it to go lightning to 3.5 then you will have to purchase an adapter somewhere else. If it is for your IPhone then it will work anyhow because it is a lighting male end.

An adapter for what—audio? An audio to connector product is available as well, if you want to play music in your car.

This lightning connector plugs right into your phone...and of course the other end are ear plugs.
