There is a microphone on the left ear piece cord. You activate it by a button.

Mic is built-in to the earbuds. Touch gestures can be setup under iPhone settings, but are limited (currently) to Play/Pause, Skip/Next, and Ask Siri.

I believe this comes with a mic. If by "remote" you mean the two buttons on either vertical end of the mic and the third button in the center, then yes I believe it comes with a remote.
