Sometimes It works for old users, depending how recent you have either got a code or trial. I tried to get another one and it didnt let me and was telling me to pay.

all you have to do is tap on the link best buy sent to you, scroll down and tap redeem, wait for it to automatically send you to apple music, you might probably have to add a payment method if you don’t have any linked to you icloud account even tho they’re not going to make any debit, the enter your password and tap confirm that’s all .
