Use the Verizon Transfer app over the ios transfer app. Verizon's app makes transferring contacts, photos and apps relatively painless. If you don't have Verizon, you can probably still use the Verizon app. You can use the ios transfer app and if you don't need to worry about contacts then go for it because contacts from your Android phone will not transfer. If transferring your contacts is critical then use the Verizon transfer app. Apps will show up in your ios App Store account with a cloud to the right of the app. Not all apps will make the transfer because there are apps available in Android's Play Store that are not available in Apple's App Store. Just click on the cloud with the down arrow to download. You will have to do this for every individual app you want to install on your iPhone that you had on your Android phone.
