That's bascially what I did. I have an old 16GB shared data plan with Verizion from way back. With rollover data, I never even come close to using it all (especially now that I'm working from home and on WiFi most of the time), so I have no desire to upgrade to a more expensive unlimited plan. I was able to buy the new iPhone 13 Pro at full price with the 30 month payment plan and keep my existing Verizon plan.
