Yes. You are not required to trade in your old device. However, if both are to function with a cellular connection, you will need two lines on your carrier account (one for each phone). They cannot both be used by the same line.

If you want both active at the same time you would either have to open a new line or place one on another open line you already have. You can switch between the 2 if you want but since the 14 only has eSIM it’s a different process than just popping the SIM card into the device you want to use.
