There’s two ways of up grading. One: you can pay full price for the new iPhone or pay monthly installment payments from 24 to 30. 

BUT-AT&T will charge you $25 for upgrade fee. 

I upgraded four phones to iPhone 7 Plus. Two of the phones I was allowed to make a down payment; which allowed a lower monthly installments payment, the other two phones I got on sale and is similar to the less cost of down payment. 

If you upgrade with Best Buy, they do go over what your estimate monthly payments would be if you choose installment payments. 

You can always go through the steps of up grading and you don’t have to sign the contract if you don’t like. So it doesn’t hurt to check.
