No, depending on which carrier you have. Verizon has a $30.00 a month plan, and after you pay half you can upgrade to a new phone if you wish and Best Buy buys your old phone back. Very simple and easy process.

You pay the sales tax on the full price of the phone upfront. Then you would pay whatever the monthly installment for the carrier is.
