No new account needed, but Verizon charged a one-time service fee of $40 for the switch. After that, your regular bills will be the same. I know this because that’s exactly what I did. You may want to have Verizon review your service and possibly give you a new plan that costs less and gives you more. By the way, Best Buy’s support on activating my new phone on my account was GREAT!
